Kings Park Bluffs Fall 2007
Kings Park Day 2007
Picture on left approximately 41 years ago (1966) , reflects the development of the area around the hospital grounds and the High school. The northeast area of 25A and Lawrence road are the Hillside Terrace and Gramacy Towne and Royal Woods sites for development. The empty land south of 25A is the farm land developed by Wilshire Green and Lakebridge. North of the High school rests the Hospital grounds. Hillside Terrence at the corner of 25A and Lawrence was a portion of acreage set aside for developing a strip mall. This idea was defeated as it was to close to a school and would cause traffic resulting in safety issues. The developer then built houses on the parcel.
Picture from Goggle Earth on right shows the same area today. This is reason enough to understand the need to develop the KPPC property in a manner that is logical and has a minimum impact to the community and outlying areas. As park Land the development needs to be restricted to park related entities such as museums, cultural centers, equestrian trails to name a few. State Road 25A then is no wider for traffic than it is today. It was a single lane road east and a single lane road west and is still a single lane road east and a single west
today.
One would think it is spring time. It is really March 4th 2007 and Sunken Meadow Park had a busy board walk. Seems the cold weather and ice was reason enough to get out and enjoy the warm sun.
